What Comes Back

Sometimes it returns

like rain in the distance

Or waves on the verge

edging the sand that it fell once

*

Though our memories burn

Damp and cold, I sift through them

Each moment takes turn

to display its brilliance

*

Dissolving resistance

as we welcome it back

With slight hesitation

and so much to unpack

*

It takes ample consideration

to examine what we lack

A form of self preservation

that's been tenderly wrapped

*

And as it touches our skin

making us appear brand new

And the healing begins

revealing things we once knew

*

Welcoming or release

is now the struggle at hand

For not all that comes back to me

serves or fits into my plans

Not everything that comes back is good for us. Kick it all to the curb. Love your poem, Kelli

Perhaps not a good twist of fate. Hoping the healing continues. 😊
