A Distant Light Across The Sea
Always look for the light when lost at sea.
I.
In darkness,
on wave-bent seas,
this boat of mine
takes on water
but stays afloat.
II.
Storm and sea
may batter me
and shred my sails.
But I see the distant light.
III.
Switch to engine
and through these waves,
I ford my path.
My dread turns to hope
as I know
Everything will be alright.
IV.
Once I get this boat
headed
toward that light,
the storm won't have
me in its bind.
V.
But the waves
will keep me down
they'll keep me from hope.
And I dread
that I will fail.
VI.
But the the light shows me the way.
And hope returns.
Soon, I will be home.
Yes, I will be home.
