The Beast in Me (2025): A Gripping Netflix Series
I binged "The Beast in Me" in a week.

How do you know so much about me?
The Beast in Me is a 2025 Netflix series. Aggie Wiggs is an accomplished author who is grieving the loss of her young son. When Niles Jarvis, a man with a suspicious past, moves in next door, Aggie becomes a sleuth in a possible murder case.
I binged The Beast in Me in a week. That’s how good it is. The series is an on-edge thriller. The Beast in Me takes viewers on a heart-pounding adventure about trusting your gut to solving mysteries for your survival.
I did a double-take when I found out that Claire Danes plays Aggie Wiggs. Yes, the same actress from Romeo & Juliet (1997) and other various films. This is Claire Danes like you have never seen her before. She completely disappears into this role. She has to stay in a manic state throughout the series, which made my own heart race.
Aggie has been through trauma, which has upset her perspective of the world. To get in the mindset of the character, Danes played with more visceral elements of the character so she’d have a more unique approach. Aggie is a flawed being, needing to learn to be open to others' advice. No matter the danger, Aggie teaches viewers to keep fighting.
Nile Jarbis is a monstrous being. Prepare to see Matthew Rys like never before. Even Rys didn’t think he could pull off this role because he said the evil personality was out of his range. Rhys completely consumes this character’s being, playing a detestable person.
Every actor’s talents are tested in remarkable performances. Brittany Snow has always been stereotyped as the pretty girl, but her role as Nina Jarvis advances her talents to something more. She should have been nominated for her performance.
Credits include Natalie Morales, Tim Guinee, Hettiene Park, Jonathan Banks, David Lyons, and so much more.
Aggie’s relationships play an integral role in the series. Each time Aggie and Niles get together, you never know what his intentions are. Danes and Morales dug into their character’s complicated relationship and performed well-acted arguments.
The Beast in Me was creator Gabe Rotter’s first direction. Rotter is a published author. He has worked on various media projects as a writer and producer. He also wrote and was an executive producer on the series.
Rotter was inspired by the author and subject relationship. When writing, he wrote about a few real-life moments, such as a notorious mobster who moved into his own neighborhood. He worked on the series for a decade, evolving the characters’ backstories. They sharpened the characters in the writer’s meetings.
His direction focuses closely on the characters and the interactions. He made audiences connect with these characters. One theme this series focuses on is redemption. We can overcome our battles; we just can’t do them alone.
Did you know that Jodie Foster was an executive producer on the series? Having worked with Danes in Foster’s underrated film, Home for the Holidays, they kept in touch, and she sent Danes the series script.
Each episode ends with a twist. The series is very well-written, keeping audiences on-edge. I don’t know if I blinked when Aggie and Nile were standing at the top of the unfinished construction building. I applauded one character’s heroic actions in the last episode.
The Beast in Me is a binge-worthy series. It was over before I knew it. If only you could watch a series for the first time again. For all you mystery lovers, take a look at The Beast in Me streaming on Netflix.
