Delete all my music’: Kehlani makes it clear ICE agents aren’t welcome in her fanbase

Dear Kehlani,

Hey, beautiful. You’ve got a point. F*ck ICE. That whole organization performed some of the most heinous acts against American citizens and those yearning for citizenship. What you have stood on is your word to properly address the ugliness of ICE.

What you have done is illustrate the fact ICE is a corrupt and unnecessary function of the US government. You have been forthright and civil about your opposition to the organization.

As you wanted to keep it classy by showing a pin that read “ICE OUT,” you wanted to drop the f-bomb but you opted for the more “couth” route. I respect that. What you have done is put a brighter spotlight on the issues of force that ICE has used in the past.

Their total disregard for rights and the ability to properly process human beings, they deserve to have you against them. You said for them to delete your music and that you bite your tongue in the face of any ICE agents.

That’s bold. It takes courage to tell people to actually stop listening to your efforts!

I respect that immensely. You’re so focused on your career but have taken time to show a side that gives way to contemplative notions about the government and the individual rights of the people living in this country and those trying to surpass the gates.

Your genuine care for the property and lives of people in and out this nation. You could just be a pop singer and be oblivious to the world, and that’s actually respectable, too. But you made the conscious decision to express your disdain for the worst function of government currently.

It takes guts to want to be political and an entertainer because so many are trying to stand for some cause. What separates you from the others is your commitment to see that ICE goes out of style like lava lamps and Pet Rocks.

That’s a wonderful understanding of your position in the culture. You believe in yourself so much you’re able to be effective at your craft while raising awareness of the topics you hold dear. When it comes to bringing together art and ideas, it could get messy. But you have shown yourself to be a lady who cares deeply about her thoughts and emotions.

That is what separates you from other singers. All you have to do is speak into a microphone. But you do so much more. Your virtue lies in the fact you can discern the difference between what government bodies are proper and those that must cease.

You have a voice for R&B and politics. Very few can walk that tightrope. You have managed to deliver on the promise of your art and been able to speak out on issues. For you to consider the amount of scrutiny and backlash that could have come with you saying words against ICE, you steamrolled through all of the negativity and won.

That makes you a true champion. By recognizing the truth behind a horrific government entity and its toxic function, you made sure that people knew that you swore a solemn oath to yourself.

This is the best way to be. You show yourself to be a distinguished young lady. Even if people delete their whole playlists with your discography, you could care less. You should be able to navigate through America with your talent and mind for politics. If anyone should ever impede your progress, it will be their loss and your lesson. You will be able to traverse through the nation knowing that you’re justified in standing on principle.
